Complicated upper urinary tract infection is considered if the patient has internal factors that make it difficult to cure, compared to the usual uncomplicated forms. Pyelonephritis is a nonspecific infectious and inflammatory kidney disease, in which the renal pelvis, calyx and renal parenchyma are involved in the process with damage primarily to the connective tissue. Upper urinary tract infections are less common than bladder infections.
