Antipsychotics Antipsychotics are drugs that restore dopamine imbalance in the mesocortical, mesolimbic, nigrostriatal and tuberoinfundibular pathways of the brain, causing psychotic states. For this reason, drugs in this group are also called antipsychotics. Antipsychotics act on the dopaminergic system in such a way that they eliminate psychotic symptoms - first of all, perceptual delusions (auditory, visual, tactile hallucinations), delirium and psychomotor agitation.
