Senescence of Cell

Cellular senescence is the cessation of cell division in multicellular organisms' somatic cells. It causes the depletion of energy reserves necessary for cell division. The inability to proliferate prevents senescent cells from synthesizing new DNA and sustaining growth (Cotter MA et al., 2007; Smith OM, 1996; Smith JR, Pereira-).
