Abstract

The article is devoted to the use of paralinguistic means in cross-cultural communication, the consideration of which is most significant in terms of cultural differences of communicants in diverse languages. Nonverbal means are considered as one of the aspects of intercultural communication, the analysis is carried out and the functions of paralinguistic means of in both official and unofficial speech are revealed, the distance factor in multi-system languages is considered. The features of verbal and nonverbal behavior of communicants in different linguistic cultures are revealed. Paralinguistic means are considered in close relationship with linguistic units. The author identifies stylistic, communicative-pragmatic, cognitive and cultural functions in the process of interpersonal and intercultural communication. The intercultural communication process is considered in two aspects: substantive and interactive.
