Lingua-Cultural Analysis of Periphrasis in English Journalistic Texts

The article examines the connection between language and culture. Cultural aspects of periphrasis in English mass media are deeply examined. The author distinguishes the periphrasis of containing allusion, the periphrasis of proverbs and sayings, and the periphrasis of containing background information.
