Abstract

Learner autonomy is cited in this articleas a potent tool forlanguage learning, because it fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities throughout the learning process. Responsibility of one’s education becomesonly student’s priority as they are supposed to find the educational resources, startegies, motivate and give feedback to themselves. Three most important basic phases of autonomous language acquisition are thoroughly covered in this work. On these stages, traits like self-motivation, selfassesment, media literacy, facilitation skills and a strong sense of responsibility are highlighted as characteristic features of an autonomous learner. The advantages of learning a language as an autonomous learner will be provided in the paper.
