The Syrian crisis has been the most decisive in determining Russia's position, particularly after Russia ensured all forms of political and military support for the Syrian regime to prevent its collapse. This was accomplished through a series of negotiations intended at fostering trust between all segments of the Syrian population. To secure its interests and influence in the region, Russia's approach is motivated by a variety of political, domestic, strategic, and economic factors. The significance of this region compels Russia to maximize not only its economic and military strength, but also its international standing as a key global player.
